Breaking News : Google Buys Motorola Mobility for $12.5 Billion

The mobile phone industry shook when Google announced on Monday, 15th August that it has bought US smartphone maker Motorola Mobility for $12.5 billion in cash in a bid to extend the reach of its Android platform.

Google and Motorola Mobility have said that their boards of directors have unanimously approved the deal between the two companies.

There is a Battle on to way to take Control on Smartphone & Tablet Market. It is just the Struggle for dominance.  Google, Apple, Microsoft & Blackberry are all finding attention.

Motorola uses Google’s Android operating system in its handsets. In a statement Google said, “…will enable Google to supercharge the Android ecosystem.”

After this move Google has attained a strong position against its business rivals, especially Apple. Now the internet company, Google, well known for its software has become hardware manufacturer.

Motorola Mobility is also a leading manufacturer of TV Set-top boxes and it is quite possible that now Google will renew its Google TV .

The partners of Google i.e., Samsung, HTC, Sony Ericsson and LG Electronics have appreciated the deal. On the deal news the President of Samsung Mobile Communications Mr. J.K. Shin said,

“We welcome today’s news, which demonstrates Google’s deep commitment to defending Android, its partners, and the ecosystem,”

According to some analysts it is quite possible that after this deal Microsoft will offer its mobile operating system, Windows Mobile, to smartphone makers as an alternative of Google’s Android.
